We all are the users of Internet. We are using Internet and Technology in almost every aspect of our life.
I would like you to think about the question mentioned on top of the Page: 166 (old book) or Page 186 (new book)
i.e. ‘Is Internet a boon?’
Please take a minute and think on this point. …..
Now let’s see this video of around 1 min 10 secs.

Was your answer similar to the message in the video?
The third line of this topic on top of the Page: 166 (new book) or Page 186 (old book) says – ‘The choice lies with us.’
It always depends on the user. If we use it in the right way then it is a boon otherwise bane for us and might even for society.
Let’s move ahead…..
So,
How can we make the Internet and Cyber World a boon? Does anybody have any idea?
The idea would come to your mind when you will ponder on the questions that - What makes Internet a Bane for us? Why some of the people are reluctant to buy things online? Why aren’t they comfortable in using Internet Banking?
I hope you are also thinking about the same word. The word is – ‘Security’.
The Safety and Security of Internet users is endangered by the people who don’t follow ‘Cyber Ethics’.
Cyber safety refers to the safe and responsible use the Internet so as to ensure safety and security of personal information. This Policy of cyber safety is commonly known as Cyber Ethics or Netiquettes.

Let me tell you a small story.
Mohan is one of my good friends. He reside in Shimla. Last month he was down with fever and couldn’t go out of his home. At the same time he got a call from his father, who stays in USA, to transfer some amount of money to USA and also to buy some necessary items. As he wasn’t able to move out, what options do you think he was available with?
You will surely say that ‘He could have gone for e-shopping and e-Banking’.
Do you know that e-Shopping and e-Banking are covered under one name i.e. E-Commerce.
But what is E-Commerce? Can anyone answer?
Please refer to the topic 6.2 on Page-166 (old book) or Page- 186 (new book) and take 2-3 minutes to read it.
I hope you have read the topic.
E-Commerce can be defined as follows:
- E-Commerce is the buying and selling of products or services via the Internet.
- It is a practice among modern businesses, which addresses the requirements of business organizations.
- E-Commerce refers to the paperless exchange of business information.
Please refer to the following link for more information in your free time:
E-Commerce is all about of exchange of business information. But we need to know the ways of doing so. So let’s read a list of methods used in exchange of business information:
- Electronic Data Exchange (EDE)
- Electronic Mail (e-Mail)
- Electronic Bulletin Boards
- Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)
- Other Network-based Technologies.
Let's discuss our last
topic of today:
We are fortunate enough for being present in this era of technology, where we
are able get experience of both modern and conventional ways of buying and
selling. Whenever you go for buying or selling with conventional methods, you
take good care of your money yourself. Isn't it?
Yes....
But at the same time when you are using e-Commerce for the same, your eyes are
always looking for trustworthy websites/vendors.
You all will agree that all the e-Retailers are not software developers. They always outsource their Web Application. This is where the problem begins.
Let us see this videos for around 2 mins 5 secs.

Keeping this in mind, don't you think that the vendors, specially retail
sellers, should behave responsibly and create a trust in the minds of their
customers about 'no risk to their money'???
Everyone would say YES...
So, now refer to the first paragraph of Page: 167 (old book)
or Page: 168 (new book). It is also saying the same thing.
Take a minute to read it...
I hope now
you have understood the point.
Feel free to mention your doubts in the Comments Section
